CHM 221 - Organic Chemistry I

Corequisite(s): CHM 225

This is the first course in a two-semester sequence. Topics in this course include nomenclature, structure, physical and chemical properties, synthesis, and typical reactions for organic compounds with special emphasis on reaction mechanisms and stereochemistry. Lab is required and includes the synthesis and confirmation of representative organic compounds with emphasis on basic techniques.

Lab: A 120-minute laboratory is required.
